The 5th Annual National HR in Hospitality Conference & Expo welcomed more than 300 attendees and 27 exhibitors last week at the Marriott Wardman Park in Washington, D.C. Conference executives are already planning the 2012 program, scheduled for February 27-29 at the Hyatt Regency San Francisco.

According to JoAnne Kruse, Conference Program Chair and Founder of HCpartners, "The fifth annual conference was our strongest yet, with attendance from large and small businesses across the hotel, restaurant, gaming and resort sectors. Most gratifying to me was that attendance at the last session mirrored that of the first session. That means we've connected with our audience and they see value from beginning to end."

Sessions were developed by the nation's premier experts and delivered by distinguished HR executives, thought leaders and attorneys, as well senior faculty from Cornell University's School of Hotel Administration and Cornell's ILR School. The exciting dialogue addressed such diverse topics as: reducing employee turnover, creating a high-performance culture, labor issues, healthcare reform, immigration policy enforcement, and more.

Between sessions, attendees explored vendor booths in the Expo Hall and enjoyed valuable face-time with panelists and speakers at networking and luncheon events. Several vendors, including Aon Hewitt, Hcareers and Target have already agreed to return in 2012.

In five short years, HR in Hospitality has earned recognition as the leading conference for senior-level human resource professionals in the hospitality industry. With sessions specifically designed to address the unique day-to-day challenges they face, this conference truly is the only event of its kind.

"As the economy within the hospitality industry continues to recover and grow, the HR in Hospitality Conference is growing with it," said Claude Werder, VP/Editorial and Conferences at LRP Publications, publishers of Human Resource Executive Magazine and producers of the event. "We had a 30 percent increase in attendance over 2010 and strong support from exhibitors and sponsors."

"Our advisory board met after the conference to share feedback and begin plans for 2012. We are already developing a program that specifically meets the needs of diverse market segments, such as small and independent operators, franchisers, and larger international brands," he added. "As the hospitality HR community evolves, so does the conference."
