Chipotle Mexican Grill (NYSE:CMG) will offer customers a new way to enjoy their food with the launch of its catering service, beginning in Colorado on January 21. Chipotle catering allows groups of 20 to 200 to customize their own individual meal the same way they do at Chipotle restaurants. The company will add catering to all of its markets in the coming months.

“We are changing the way people think about and eat fast food by offering our customers better ingredients from more sustainable sources in a way that is affordable and accessible”

To kickoff catering in Colorado, Chipotle is offering customers who order catering for 20 or more guests on Sunday, Feb. 3, two free entrée items redeemable on a return visit.

“We are changing the way people think about and eat fast food by offering our customers better ingredients from more sustainable sources in a way that is affordable and accessible,” said Steve Ells, founder, chairman and co-CEO of Chipotle. “With catering, we can now better serve our customers by allowing them to bring Chipotle into their homes, offices and schools where they can conveniently and effortlessly share the food that they love with large groups of people.”

Chipotle catering offers a Taco and Burrito Bowl Spread that can be ordered with two or three meats (including Responsibly Raised® grilled chicken or steak, and shredded barbacoa or carnitas) and comes complete with sides, including cilantro-lime rice, pinto and black beans, fresh salsas, house-made guacamole, cheese, and sour cream. Those looking for a snack or a smaller option can choose Chipotle’s chips and salsa menu with hand-mashed guacamole, fresh tomato salsa, roasted chili-corn salsa, tomatillo-green chili salsa, and tomatillo-red chili salsa. All options are easy to set up and come with everything customers need to serve their guests.

Customers who place an order for Sunday, Feb. 3 can redeem their original receipt for two free food items (burritos, burrito bowls, salads or tacos) at any Chipotle location on a return visit through Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013. Additionally, catering customers who return their serving stands to Chipotle after their event will be given another free entrée card for use on a subsequent visit. To order, customers can call 800-CHIPOTLE. Orders must be placed at least 24 hours ahead of pick-up time.

For smaller catering orders (of six or more), Chipotle offers a “Burritos by the Box” option, which allows customers to mix and match their choice of chicken, steak, carnitas, barbacoa or vegetarian burritos including white or brown cilantro-lime rice, vegetarian black beans, mild fresh tomato salsa and cheese. “Burritos by the Box” orders also include a bag of chips, tomatillo-green chili salsa, guacamole and sour cream for every two burritos ordered.
