The Georgia-based quick-service restaurant (QSR) franchise Zaxby’s plans to expand into Pennsylvania, specifically in the Philadelphia area. The company, known for its Chicken Fingerz, wings, and signature sauces, aims to open 10 new locations in the next five years.

George Abdelmessieh, an entrepreneur with more than 30 years of experience in the franchise industry, is leading the franchise expansion. Abdelmessieh plans to open the first two Zaxby’s locations in Philadelphia in 2025. He is motivated by the opportunity to contribute to his community and create a lasting legacy for his family.

Before this, Abdelmessieh, a retired electrical engineer, owned more than 30 Dunkin’ locations across South Jersey and Philadelphia. His daughter, a physician who studied at Emory University in Atlanta, introduced him to Zaxby’s. Given the rising demand for chicken in the fast-casual dining space, Abdelmessieh views Zaxby’s as an ideal brand to diversify his franchise portfolio.

Mike Mettler, Zaxby’s Chief Development Officer, expressed confidence in Abdelmessieh’s ability to successfully introduce the brand to Philadelphia based on his extensive experience and commitment to building robust franchise operations.

In preparation for the 2025 openings, Abdelmessieh and his team are identifying suitable sites across Philadelphia. For more information on franchise opportunities with Zaxby’s, visit their website.
