Wienerschnitzel Opens First Walmart Location in Tempe, Arizona
Wienerschnitzel has opened its first restaurant inside a Walmart Supercenter in Tempe, Arizona, with plans for additional locations in other states.
Wienerschnitzel has launched its first restaurant within a Walmart Supercenter, located at 1380 W Elliot Rd. in Tempe, Arizona. The opening is scheduled for November 15 and marks the start of a non-traditional expansion strategy for the hot dog franchise. This initiative includes plans for five more franchised locations inside Walmart stores across the United States.
The Tempe location is part of Wienerschnitzel's broader strategy to increase its presence in high-traffic, convenience-focused environments. Additional outlets are planned for Puyallup, Washington; Alamogordo, New Mexico; Reno, Nevada; Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Bakersfield, California.
Each of the new locations will offer Wienerschnitzel's full menu, featuring items such as the Chili Cheese Dog, Junkyard Dog, Chili Cheese Fries, Jalapeño Peppers, and Tastee Freez soft-serve desserts. This expansion into Walmart stores is intended to provide convenience for customers by integrating the restaurant into their regular shopping routines.
Wienerschnitzel's move into Walmart is part of a larger effort to expand into non-traditional venues. The company is also exploring opportunities in airports, theme parks, food courts, travel plazas, and convenience stores. This strategy aims to increase the brand's visibility and accessibility in high-traffic locations.
The Tempe opening follows Wienerschnitzel's recent expansion into the retail sector, with its Original Corn Dogs now available in over 500 grocery stores, including Save Mart, FoodMaxx, Lucky, Albertsons, and Vons across California and Nevada.
Currently, Wienerschnitzel operates 340 franchised locations across 13 states, with more than 50 additional units in development nationwide.
