Wienerschnitzel Adds First U.S. Military Base Location
Wienerschnitzel has opened its first restaurant on a U.S. military base at Naval Base San Diego through the Navy Exchange Service Command.
Wienerschnitzel opened a restaurant in the Navy Exchange food court at Naval Base San Diego in early July. The location is at 2260 Callagan Highway, Building 3187A, San Diego, California 92136, and operates through the Navy Exchange Service Command, or NEXCOM.
The restaurant is Wienerschnitzel’s first location on a U.S. military installation. It serves Navy Exchange-authorized patrons, including service members, civilian employees and families. Naval Base San Diego is one of the largest concentrations of active-duty military personnel on the West Coast.
The location is part of Wienerschnitzel’s expansion into nontraditional restaurant formats, including freestanding drive-thrus, conversions, endcap and in-line locations, as well as retail, military, travel and other high-traffic environments.
Over the past year, Wienerschnitzel has opened restaurants in Walmart Supercenters in Tempe, Arizona; Puyallup, Washington; Alamogordo, New Mexico; and Colorado Springs, Colorado. Two additional Walmart restaurants are expected to open later this year.
The Naval Base San Diego restaurant offers Wienerschnitzel’s full menu, including Chili Cheese Dogs, Junkyard Dogs, Chili Cheese Fries, Corn Dogs, Burgers, Jalapeno Poppers and soft beverages.
Wienerschnitzel currently operates 340 franchised restaurants in 13 states. More than 30 additional units are in development nationwide.
