White Castle has announced that Melissa Palmisciano has been promoted to the position of Vice President and General Counsel, making her the first woman to hold this top legal position in the company's history.
Palmisciano joined White Castle as corporate counsel in 2018. She provides key legal leadership in various areas, including intellectual property, real estate, litigation, and employment law. She steps into the role previously occupied by Anthony Joseph, the new President of White Castle.
Palmisciano’s promotion has been received positively by her colleagues. Anthony Joseph commended her for setting a high standard through her tenacity, diligence, and commitment to continuous improvement. He believes her clarity of thought and strong work ethic will serve her well in her new role.
Before joining White Castle, Palmisciano had a distinguished military career spanning over two decades with the U.S. Marine Corps. She retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in 2020 after serving in various roles, including intelligence officer, defense counsel, prosecutor, and staff legal adviser. Palmisciano is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law.
Expressing her excitement about her promotion, Palmisciano stated that her time in the Marine Corps taught her that effective leadership requires decisiveness, clear communication, and a strong focus on continuous improvement. She is keen to contribute to White Castle's mission of creating memorable moments for customers and team members for generations to come.
Outside of work, Palmisciano enjoys spending time with her family and serves on the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation board of directors.
