Russo’s New York Pizzeria & Italian Kitchen Signs Multi-Unit Agreement to Expand into Mexico City

Russo’s New York Pizzeria & Italian Kitchen has signed a multi-unit development agreement to open 10 outlets in Mexico City by 2027. This marks an exciting milestone for the brand as it continues its international expansion. The company is proud to welcome its newest franchisee, Javier Aguilar, and looks forward to introducing its signature New York-style pizza and Italian dishes to the vibrant culinary scene in Mexico City.

Javier Aguilar is enthusiastic about joining Russo’s family of restaurants. He highlights the tremendous growth in Mexico City, as well as the scarcity of authentic New York-style pizza and classic American-Italian cuisine. “Russo’s offers a taste of Little Italy with unique menu items and family recipes, including favorites like the Prosciutto & Burrata Pizza, Truffle Mushroom Pizza, and Pesto Chicken Pizza. Furthermore, their selection of classic Italian pasta dishes—made fresh to order using all-natural ingredients—truly sets them apart,” says Aguilar. These dishes include lasagna, baked ziti, fettuccine Alfredo, spaghetti carbonara, gnocchi, and many other Italian classics. The variety of menu options is sure to drive both dine-in and delivery sales.

Aguilar emphasizes what makes Russo’s New York Pizzeria & Italian Kitchen stand out from other pizza chains: the exceptional menu and flexible store design. “The ability to open a range of store sizes—from 1,200 square feet to 3,000 square feet—allows us to develop upscale pizzerias as well as carry-out and delivery outlets tailored to the local market. Additionally, there is no commissary; every menu item is made fresh to order, and the average food cost is 22%. We’re excited to be part of the Russo family and to work closely with Chef Russo himself to bring the brand to Mexico City,” Aguilar shares.

Chef Anthony Russo, Founder and CEO of Russo’s New York Pizzeria, expresses his pride in welcoming Javier Aguilar to the Russo’s franchise network. “We are thrilled to have Javier onboard. His extensive experience as a multi-unit franchisee and restaurant operator will be invaluable as we continue to grow our brand internationally.”

Russo’s New York Pizzeria is committed to bringing a taste of Little Italy to new markets, with a flexible franchise model that allows franchisees to design stores that fit each local market’s needs. This adaptability enables franchisees to localize their menu with regional favorites and options like halal or gluten-free dishes. “Our goal is to support our franchisees so they can maximize their growth potential in each market,” Russo explains. The brand has already announced new store openings in Arizona, Texas, California, and international markets such as the Philippines, Qatar, Dubai, and now Mexico City.

Russo’s New York Pizzeria offers an exciting growth opportunity for passionate individuals looking to deliver fresh, high-quality gourmet food. With revenue streams encompassing dine-in, take-out, delivery, and catering, the brand is poised for continued expansion. Store sizes range from 1,500 square feet for the fast-casual delivery model to 3,500 square feet for the Italian kitchen dine-in model, allowing franchisees to choose the best fit for their market.
