Roasting Plant Coffee Signs Singapore Agreement for Up to 50 Stores

Roasting Plant Coffee has outlined a strategy for international expansion, building on recent growth in the United States and the signing of a new licensing agreement in Singapore. The agreement in Singapore allows for the development of up to 50 Roasting Plant stores over the next decade.

The announcement comes eighteen months after the appointment of CEO Doug Satzman, whose background includes senior executive roles at Starbucks in the United States and as head of Starbucks EMEA Licensing. Roasting Plant Coffee is pursuing an international licensing strategy that focuses on partnering with experienced regional partners to scale its concept in major markets. The company’s system includes proprietary Javabot automation, in-store roasting, and brewed-to-order coffee.

In the United States, Roasting Plant Coffee has recently opened locations in Aventura, Florida, and Chicago, Illinois, in partnership with The Fresh Market. In Asia, the new licensing agreement in Singapore marks Roasting Plant Coffee’s entry into the region and creates a platform for future growth across the region.

In the United Kingdom, Roasting Plant Coffee is seeking an experienced food-and-beverage operating partner to accelerate growth in London and across the UK. The company currently operates five roastery-cafés in Central London. In the Middle East, Roasting Plant Coffee is in discussions with regional operators interested in bringing its coffee experience to the region. Additional expansion opportunities are being explored in Asia, the Middle East, and other international markets.

Roasting Plant Coffee operates 14 roastery-cafés across the United States and the United Kingdom. The company’s proprietary Javabot system is designed to roast specialty beans in-store daily and brew each cup to order in under a minute.
