Riko’s Pizza Acquires Merrick and Levittown Restaurants

Riko’s Pizza acquired its two Long Island franchise restaurants in Merrick and Levittown, New York. The transaction closed Aug. 31, and terms were not disclosed.

Both restaurants will remain open at their current locations and continue operating without interruption. Riko’s plans additional investment in the Merrick and Levittown restaurants while pursuing further expansion across Long Island.

Riko's first franchisee developed and operated the locations. The franchisee entered the system in 2020 with the opening of the Levittown restaurant, which was Riko’s first franchised location and its first restaurant outside Connecticut.

The franchisee opened a second Long Island restaurant in Mineola in 2021. That restaurant relocated to a larger space in Merrick in 2023. The acquisition ends the franchisee’s six-year period with Riko’s.

Long Island will be a corporate growth market following the transaction, with Riko’s evaluating opportunities throughout Nassau and Suffolk counties.

The company also plans to open a restaurant at the Shops at SunVet in Holbrook, New York. The location is slated to open in 2027 and would extend Riko’s presence on Long Island beyond the Merrick and Levittown restaurants.

Riko’s currently operates eight corporate-owned and five franchise-owned locations across Connecticut, Florida, New York and North Carolina. The company has additional U.S. locations in its pipeline, focusing on select East Coast markets.
