Pokeworks to Open Ten New Units in San Antonio and Rio Grande Valley

Pokeworks, a popular chain known for its poke offerings, is set to expand its presence in Texas. Following a strong Q1 performance, the company recently finalized a 10-unit franchise agreement in San Antonio. The brand also announced that all available franchise territories in Houston have been sold out.

The brand's impressive growth in Q1, with an 11% increase in same-store sales in March, has increased interest in its franchise model. According to the latest Jefferies report, this is significantly higher than the average 0.4% growth observed in the fast-casual segment.

Agustin Guzman, an experienced entrepreneur with a diverse background in the restaurant, food, retail, logistics, and pharmaceutical industries, will spearhead the expansion in the San Antonio market and the Rio Grande Valley. Guzman, a former Olympic swimmer and current operator of a Pokeworks location in McAllen, plans to open ten stores within the next two years.

In addition to the San Antonio expansion, Pokeworks has sold out all available franchise territories in Houston. The city has proven to be a strong market for the brand, with franchisees continuing to invest and expand their portfolio in the region. This expansion aligns with Pokeworks' strategic growth approach and its ability to thrive in competitive markets.

Pokeworks' expansion in Texas, which Chief Executive Magazine named the Best State for Business for the 20th year in a row in 2024, is indicative of the brand's upward trajectory. The company was recently named to Fast Casual's Top 100 Movers and Shakers list for the sixth consecutive year.
