North America's 50 Best Restaurants has awarded Asmeret Berhe-Lumax the 'Champions of Change' award for 2025. The award recognizes individuals in the hospitality sector who are making significant contributions to their communities. One Love Community Fridge was established in 2020 and operates 10 community fridges in New York City and Seattle, with plans to expand to Los Angeles and Atlanta. The organization supports an additional 30 partner fridges, providing free, nutritious food to those in need. It collaborates with farmers, community gardens, food purveyors, chefs, and schools to promote a sustainable food system and nutrition education.

The 'Champions of Change' award is part of the broader North America's 50 Best Restaurants initiative, which seeks to highlight unsung heroes in the hospitality industry. The awards ceremony is scheduled for September 25.
