Merit Coffee to Open Two Houston Locations in 2026
Merit Coffee Company plans to open two new cafés in Houston by mid-2026.
Merit Coffee Company has announced its expansion into the Houston market with the opening of two new café locations scheduled for 2026. The Texas-based coffee company, which currently operates 13 locations across the state, will establish new sites in the Houston Heights and on Buffalo Speedway, targeting the River Oaks and West University neighborhoods.
The Buffalo Speedway location is expected to open by the end of the first quarter of 2026, while the Houston Heights café is slated to begin operations in early summer of the same year. This expansion marks Merit Coffee's first physical presence in Houston, although the company has already established a customer base in the area through online sales and partnerships with grocery retailers such as HEB, Whole Foods Market, and Central Market.
Founded in 2009 in San Antonio, Merit Coffee has expanded its operations to include five locations in San Antonio, three in Austin, and five in Dallas. The company's entry into the Houston market is part of a broader strategy to increase its footprint in Texas and meet the demand from its existing customer base in the region.
The new Houston cafés will offer Merit Coffee's range of products, which includes ethically sourced beans roasted in Texas.
The development of the two new locations is currently underway, with construction progressing to meet the planned opening dates.
