KFC’s KPRO Surpasses 300 Locations in China

Yum China Holdings, Inc. announced that KFC’s light-meal concept, KPRO, has exceeded 300 locations in China and is on track to reach 600 locations by year-end, up from just over 200 in 2025. In April, Yum China raised its 2026 expansion target for KPRO from 400 to 600 locations, focusing on tier-1, tier-2, and select tier-3 cities, particularly in eastern and southern China.

KPRO’s menu features multigrain energy bowls and superfood yogurt smoothies. The brand is introducing two new high-protein product categories: Energy PRO sandwiches and high-protein yogurt smoothies. The sandwiches, made with whole-wheat chia-seed bread, include roasted chicken breast or tuna and egg, along with five types of fresh vegetables. The high-protein yogurt smoothies are scheduled to launch in July and will be available in a range of new flavors.

KPRO operates as a side-by-side module within KFC stores, leveraging KFC’s in-store resources and requiring lower investment and operating costs than standalone formats. This model cross-sells to KFC members and customers, contributing to additional sales and profit for KFC stores.

The KPRO menu features calorie labels and limits sugar and salt. Operations are supported by Yum China’s supply chain management system and quality controls, with food safety measures including the use of eggs safe for raw consumption, thorough cleaning of produce, strict separation of raw and cooked foods, and close monitoring of ingredient conditions.
