Julius Meinl Barista Cup 2026 to Feature National Rounds in 17 Countries
The 2026 edition of the Julius Meinl Barista Cup will expand its reach by introducing national rounds in 17 countries, highlighting the growing importance of barista skills in the coffee industry.
Julius Meinl will host the Julius Meinl Barista Cup 2026, an international barista competition, with national rounds in 17 countries from April to July 2026 and a Grand Finale in Vienna on 4 September 2026.
Julius Meinl will host the Julius Meinl Barista Cup 2026, an international competition for baristas from 17 countries. National competitions will take place from April to July 2026 in Austria, Bosnia, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Georgia, Italy, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, the UAE, the USA, Serbia, Germany, Slovenia, China, and Hungary. National champions will advance to the Grand Finale in Vienna on 4 September 2026.
Baristas working in cafés, restaurants, and hotels serving Julius Meinl coffee are eligible to apply. Selected participants will compete at the national level before a panel of expert judges in three categories: Espresso, Cappuccino, and Signature Drink. At the Grand Finale, the top scorer in each category will win a trip to a coffee country of origin, providing an opportunity to experience coffee culture and sustainable cultivation practices.
Competitors will use Julius Meinl's Gloriette Gold blend, part of The Originals Bio Fairtrade double-certified range. Participants will be judged on technical skills, creativity, and their interpretation of the blend.
The competition is supported by Rancilio Group, Fiorenzato, DaVinci Gourmet, and BWT. Participants will use SCA-certified Rancilio Specialty RS1 espresso machines, Fiorenzato grinders, and BWT’s water technology. DaVinci Gourmet is the official syrup partner.
