Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii, a coffee franchise known for its Hawaiian coffee sources, will be opening a location in a Kenosha, Wisconsin, travel plaza set to open in Q2 2025. This location, part of a 19,000-square-foot travel plaza, will be Bad Ass Coffee's first nontraditional location and signals the brand's expansion into such areas.
The franchise agreement was signed with Paul Bhardwaj, CEO of Golden Oil, which operates 12 travel centers. Bhardwaj, who also owns franchises of Subway, Dairy Queen, and Cinnabon, among others, expressed the potential of the coffee market in travel plazas. He believes the proximity to three college campuses would make it a popular coffee destination.
Gregg Koffler, Chief Development Officer of Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii, expressed the importance of nontraditional locations in building brand awareness and presenting attractive business opportunities. The company plans to expand to other high-traffic venues such as airports, convenience stores, and colleges.
Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii, established in 1989, specializes in premium coffee from Hawaii's Kona, Kauai, and Maui regions. Besides coffee, they offer blended drinks, signature lattes, cold brews, teas, and Hawaiian-inspired food.
The franchise is currently seeking partners for multi-unit opportunities and offers a total investment range between $454,200 and $920,500. It also offers a $10,000 discount off the initial franchise fee for veteran franchisees.
