Freddy's Launches Location Inside Fort Lee Commissary

Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers will open its first restaurant on a U.S. military base at the Fort Lee Army installation commissary on April 15. A formal grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony is planned for a later date.

Located inside the base commissary alongside other dining options, the Fort Lee restaurant features a streamlined kitchen and a simplified menu tailored to the space. The location operates within a smaller footprint than a traditional Freddy's restaurant.

To meet military requirements, the team completed an extended approval process, background checks for all staff, and adapted to base-directed guidelines. Construction was completed in approximately one month, which is faster than a typical restaurant build for the brand.

The Fort Lee opening marks Freddy's 25th nontraditional location, joining sites in airports, student centers, stadiums, and arenas. The company describes this restaurant as a first step toward expanding its presence at additional military installations.

The Fort Lee restaurant is part of Freddy's broader development strategy, which includes adapting operations and menu offerings for nontraditional spaces. Both corporate leadership and regional teams supported the opening of this location.
