Fast-Casual Burrito Chain Barberitos Plans Seven-Unit Expansion in Florida
Barberitos has announced a development agreement to open seven new locations in the Tampa/St. Pete area, aiming to enhance its presence in Florida.

Barberitos is set to increase its footprint in the Tampa/St. Pete market through a new development agreement that includes opening seven additional locations. This expansion is part of the brand's strategy to capitalize on the growing demand for fast-casual dining options in one of the fastest-growing franchise markets in the United States.
Matt O'Neill, a Tampa Bay native with extensive experience in restaurant operations, will lead the expansion. In 2024, O'Neill opened his first Barberitos location in Tampa, which quickly became one of the top-performing restaurants in the brand's network. Following the success of this initial venture, O'Neill has committed to further developing the Barberitos brand in the region.
The new development agreement aims to build on the success of existing locations by adding seven more over the coming years. This move is expected to significantly boost Barberitos' market presence in Florida, a state already known for its robust franchise market.
Barberitos is recognized for its fresh, health-conscious menu options, which include customizable burritos, bowls, and quesadillas. The brand emphasizes the use of fresh, high-quality ingredients, prepared in-house. This commitment to quality and customization is a key component of Barberitos' business model, appealing to a broad demographic of health-conscious consumers looking for quick and nutritious meal options.
The expansion into the Tampa/St. Pete market aligns with Barberitos' strategic goals of increasing its visibility and accessibility in key growth markets. By enlarging its presence in Florida, Barberitos aims to strengthen its market share and enhance its competitive position in the fast-casual dining sector.
