DailyPay Opens 1938-Themed New York City Pop-Up
DailyPay has opened the DailyPay Diner, a New York City pop-up set in 1938 that examines whether the U.S. pay system developed that year meets the needs of current workers.
DailyPay opened the DailyPay Diner at 245 E. Houston St. in New York City. The public pop-up is open July 22-23 and is set in 1938, which DailyPay identified as the year the current pay system took shape in the United States.
The 45-minute immersive experience recreates a 1930s diner and includes period food and pricing, music, décor, a vintage diner car, live performances and costumed actors. It places visitors in the period when the current paycheck system first took shape.
The diner compares the development of the paycheck system with changes in how people live, work and manage money, exploring whether a system created for a different economy continues to meet the needs of workers today.
The pop-up is part of DailyPay’s national “The Future of Pay” campaign, which features Christopher Lloyd. The campaign asks why the way people are paid has not changed if other aspects of life have evolved since 1938.
