Culinary Academy of Las Vegas Launches Expansion Projec

The Culinary Academy of Las Vegas (CALV) started construction on the CALV Forward project on December 11, 2024. The project aims to broaden CALV's training facilities to cater to the growing hospitality industry in Las Vegas. It reflects a significant investment in CALV's future.

The CALV Forward project will upgrade and enlarge the academy's infrastructure, providing an improved educational environment for aspiring and current hospitality professionals. This will further bolster CALV's dedication to advanced training.

The project, funded primarily by Clark County and the State of Nevada, involves 30,500 square feet of new and renovated space. As explained by Dr. Bobbi Damrow, CEO of CALV, the project aims to raise training capacity, update facilities, and widen the workforce pipeline, which will provide significant opportunities for economic advancement.

The project highlights include renovations to the Westside Bistro and kitchen, a new student-operated coffee shop, housekeeping training concept rooms, renovated food and beverage classrooms, and expanded spaces for English language and continuing education classes. It will also enhance student success and support services.

Since 1993, CALV has trained over 60,000 individuals for Las Vegas hospitality industry careers. Approximately 30% of all enrolled students come from the five most underserved ZIP codes in Clark County. Collaborations with over 30 public and private agencies providing student support services have contributed to an 80% graduation rate, with 88% of graduates securing immediate employment.
