Cousins Maine Lobster to Launch Food Trucks in Indiana By 2027
Cousins Maine Lobster has signed an agreement to introduce two food trucks in Indiana, with launches planned for 2026 and 2027.
Cousins Maine Lobster has announced a new development agreement to expand its operations into Indiana by introducing two food trucks. The first truck is scheduled to begin operations in the Gary and South Bend areas in March 2026, followed by a second truck in Fort Wayne in 2027. This expansion is part of the company's strategy to meet increasing demand for seafood in the Midwest.
The expansion into Indiana will be led by local entrepreneurs Hussein Kourani and Al Obaid, who are both deputy sheriffs and brothers-in-law. They will be supported by Hadi Kourani, further involving the family in the business venture. The agreement aims to bring the company's menu, which includes lobster rolls, tacos, and grilled cheese, to new communities in Indiana.
Cousins Maine Lobster has been actively expanding its presence across the United States, having opened nearly 20 new units in various markets this year. The company plans to reach its 100th unit by the first half of 2026 and to operate in over 35 states. The expansion strategy includes both food truck and restaurant models, providing flexibility to enter different markets.
The company is targeting additional markets with strong demand for fast-casual seafood, including cities in Utah, Idaho, Kansas, Nebraska, and Louisiana. The business model allows operators to launch food trucks within 3 to 6 months, with low overhead and labor costs providing an efficient entry into new markets.
Cousins Maine Lobster continues to seek operators who are interested in delivering seafood through its established franchise model. The company emphasizes community involvement and quality service as it expands its footprint across the country.
