Chipotle to Enter Asian Market with South Korea and Singapore Locations
Chipotle Mexican Grill has entered a joint venture with SPC Group to open its first restaurants in South Korea and Singapore in 2026.
Chipotle Mexican Grill has announced a joint venture with SPC Group to establish its presence in Asia, with plans to open restaurants in South Korea and Singapore. The collaboration marks Chipotle's first foray into the Asian market, with the initial locations expected to open in 2026.
The agreement with SPC Group, a South Korean-based food company, aims to capitalize on the growing demand for diverse dining options in the region. The venture will introduce Chipotle's menu offerings to new consumers in both South Korea and Singapore, expanding the brand's international footprint.
This expansion follows Chipotle's recent international development efforts. In July 2023, Chipotle signed an agreement with Alshaya Group to open restaurants in the Middle East, with locations currently operating in Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates. Additionally, Chipotle has plans to enter the Mexican market in 2026 through a partnership with Alsea, S.A.B. de C.V., a restaurant operator in Latin America and Europe.
Chipotle's existing international operations include over 60 locations in Canada, 20 in the United Kingdom, six in France, and two in Germany. The company operates more than 3,800 restaurants globally and aims to open between 315 and 345 new locations in the U.S. and Canada in 2025. Chipotle's long-term goal is to operate 7,000 locations across North America.
Further details on the specific locations and operational plans for the new restaurants in South Korea and Singapore have not been disclosed. The joint venture is expected to capitalize on SPC Group's market expertise and Chipotle's brand recognition to establish a successful presence in these new markets.
