Captain D's Seafood Chain Plans Expansion into Maryland and Texas

Captain D's, a fast-casual seafood restaurant chain, plans to expand its operations into Maryland and Texas. The company aims to establish a significant presence on both sides of the Mississippi.

In Maryland, a development group is set to open five restaurants in Prince George County in the Baltimore metro area over the next seven years. This move will mark Captain D's expansion into its 24th state, aligning with the company's strategic plan to grow in the Northeast. The development team includes Shahid Raza and Ahmed Fawad, experienced operators of restaurant and franchise businesses in New York, Maryland, and Virginia Beach.

Meanwhile, in Texas, local businessmen Dave Peters, Brian Clemens, and Ruben Cardenas plan to introduce the seafood chain to San Antonio. They have committed to developing three locations, with the first restaurant expected to open near Lackland Air Force Base in early 2026.

Dave Peters commented on the expansion: "San Antonio is home to restaurants and food from all over the world and Captain D's hand-crafted cooking is a great addition to the area's rich culinary tradition."

Captain D's plans to use its flexible restaurant prototypes for these new developments, offering various build-out options to fit different real estate opportunities and market needs.

Brad Reed, Chief Development Officer of Captain D's, expressed his excitement about the new partnerships, stating that the expansion demonstrates the company's commitment to thoughtful, strategic growth.

This announcement follows Captain D's recent European venture with a 20-unit deal in the UK. The company, which operates more than 530 restaurants in 23 states, actively seeks master franchisees and multi-unit operators to contribute to its rapid international expansion. The focus areas for this expansion include Canada, Central and Latin America, the Caribbean, Spain, the Philippines, Singapore, and Indonesia.
