Captain D's Opens New Gainesville, Florida Location

Captain D's has expanded its presence in Florida with the opening of a new restaurant at 209 NW 75th Street in the Tower Center Shopping Mall in Gainesville. The 2,172-square-foot location features an end-cap layout with a drive-thru and dining room seating for 36.

The Gainesville restaurant is operated by franchisees Toks Achebe and Wanda Davis, who previously opened a Captain D's in Ocala in the fall and also operate a location in Palatka. The new site is located near Newberry Street, a high-traffic corridor in Gainesville.

The restaurant offers a menu that includes batter-dipped fish, chicken tenders, butterfly shrimp, Nashville hot fish, grilled items, and various side dishes. The drive-thru and dine-in options are available daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Achebe and Davis have also operated Dairy Queen and Captain D's locations in Ocala. According to Captain D's, the Gainesville market was selected for its potential and the visibility provided by end-cap real estate. The company has indicated that such locations are part of its expansion strategy in Florida.

Captain D's currently operates more than 530 restaurants in 23 states and three countries. The company has stated that it is seeking additional single- and multi-unit operators for further growth.
