Captain D's Opens First European Restaurant in the UK
Captain D's has opened its first European restaurant at Westwood Cross Shopping Centre in Broadstairs, Kent, marking the brand's entry into the UK market.
Captain D's, a U.S.-based seafood and chicken restaurant chain, has launched its first European outlet in Broadstairs, Kent. The new restaurant, located at Westwood Cross Shopping Centre, represents the company's initial foray into the UK market.
The opening event, held on October 20, 2025, attracted significant local attention, with over 1,500 guests served on the first day. The menu features American Southern-style seafood, including Nashville-style fish and chips, hand-battered fish, shrimp, chicken tenders, and hush puppies. The restaurant's design follows a modern fast-casual concept with a coastal-inspired interior.
Local officials, including Councillor George Rusiecki and Councillor Qaisar Abbas, attended the opening ceremony, which included a ribbon-cutting event. Captain D's senior leadership, such as Chief Development Officer Brad Reed and Senior Vice President of International Operations and Development Hair Parra, were present to oversee the launch.
The Broadstairs location is the first of 20 planned sites in the UK. Future locations are already in development in Sussex and Hampshire. This expansion is part of Captain D's broader strategy to grow its presence internationally, with further plans to extend across Europe.
Captain D's, headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee, operates over 530 restaurants across 23 states and three countries. The company aims to leverage its experience in the U.S. market to establish a foothold in Europe, beginning with its UK operations.
