3 Innovators Turning the Tables on Business

Wondering where the restaurant industry is headed? Look no further than “Signature ’16: Turn the Tables,” May 22 at the NRA Show in Chicago.

National Restaurant Association President and CEO Dawn Sweeney will moderate conversations with three business executives who are turning the table on business as usual – and perhaps helping to reshape the restaurant world in the process.

• Jason Droege, head of Uber Everything, is in charge of Uber’s new business ventures, including food deliveries. Uber began testing delivery of food orders in 2014 through UberRUSH and UberEATS.
• Kimbal Musk is a local-sourcing and sustainability pioneer who co-founded The Kitchen restaurant company, which operates restaurants in Colorado and Chicago. Musk, brother of Tesla Motors founder Elon Musk, will discuss his vision for bringing “real food” to the masses, including by sourcing through local farmers. He serves on the boards of Chipotle Mexican Grill, Tesla and SpaceX.
• Denny Marie Post, president of Red Robin Gourmet Burgers Inc., is overseeing the repositioning of the casual-dining burger chain’s brand. She’ll talk about the changes Red Robin is making to compete with fast-casual competitors and adapt to changing consumer tastes.

These industry game-changers will talk about the hurdles, successes and challenges they’ve encountered along the way.
