Award-Winning Modern Chinese Restaurant to Launch in Manhattan
Hakkasan today shared details of its New York City location. Set to open in early 2012, the luxurious restaurant will feature modern, authentic Cantonese cuisine, impeccable service and an unparalleled dining experience. Located in Midtown Manhattan at 311 West 43rd Street, the 11,000 square-foot restaurant will have seating for 200 guests, and will feature an elegant bar for guests to experience Hakkasan's signature cocktails.
Hakkasan New York marks the seventh location to open globally since the London flagship – Hanway Place – introduced the innovative brand to the UK in 2001. Hakkasan is the first and only Chinese restaurant in Europe with a Michelin star and has opened international locations at The Fontainebleau Miami Beach, Abu Dhabi, Mumbai, London (Mayfair) – which was recently awarded a star – and Dubai, which will open in November 2011.

Hakkasan New York will become the gateway for the brand's expansion in the United States, as we look to introduce the restaurant in other cities."Hakkasan's Corporate Development Chef, Chef Ho Chee Boon, will relocate to New York City to oversee the development of the menu. Malaysian-born Chef Ho has 24 years of experience at several of the world's most renowned Asian restaurants, including holding the positions of Sous Chef at Hakkasan Hanway Place, Head Chef at Moscow's acclaimed Turandot and most recently Executive Chef at Breeze in Bangkok. Created with local flavors and influences in mind, a number of new recipes specially tailored for a sophisticated New York clientele will be unveiled at Hakkasan, which will integrate locally sourced ingredients. Hakkasan's signature dishes include classics, such as Roasted Silver Cod with Champagne and Chinese Honey, Stir-Fry Black Pepper Rib-Eye Beef with Merlot, and exquisite steamed Dim Sum dishes.
Paris-based architect team, Gilles & Boissier – who previously developed the interiors for the Miami and Abu Dhabi Hakkasan locations – have been appointed to design the New York space. The new design will reflect the brand's global philosophy with subtle edits to the interior decor – which includes a new motif and deep blue color scheme, tailored to New York sensibilities.
The multi-million dollar restaurant will be managed by hospitality industry veteran, Scott Gingerich. Hakkasan New York will be open daily for lunch, cocktails and dinner. Fans will also have the ability to engage with the restaurant digitally through a Twitter hashtag #HakkasanNY.
