Tin Star, a casual-n-quick restaurant offering fresh and healthy handcrafted food, is celebrating the launch of its newest taco bar location at the Parks Mall in Arlington.

“We chose the Parks Mall for our first restaurant because we know it’s a great meeting place for families”

This is the second mall location for the 10-restaurant chain, which has restaurants in Texas and Oklahoma. The Arlington store is owned by technology industry veteran Sam Aruti, who has signed an area development agreement to open additional locations in the Mid Cities area.

“We chose the Parks Mall for our first restaurant because we know it’s a great meeting place for families,” said Sam Aruti, of DIBJ Enterprises, Inc and Tin Star Arlington franchisee. “We look forward to introducing Arlington residents to our fresh and exciting food with healthy menu options for kids and adults.”

The Arlington taco bar will feature an extended kids meal with healthy choices, a new gluten-free menu, daily breakfast, wireless Internet, online ordering and digital menu boards. It will also offer 10 percent off a purchase for firefighters, police officers, military and seniors (over 65).

“We are thrilled to welcome Sam to the Tin Star family,” said Mike Rangel, Tin Star brand owner and president of M.D. Rangel Enterprises. “With our success at NorthPark Mall, we hope our second mall location will be a warm welcome to the families who frequent the Parks Mall.”

Tin Star is known for its gourmet tacos and other popular menu items handmade daily on-site. As a Tin Star fan, Sam became interested in the restaurant as an option to pursue his passion for the food industry and open a restaurant that serves exceptional cuisine.

“My wife and I loved Tin Star food before we decided to become franchisees,” Sam said. “We were enjoying a meal at the NorthPark location when we decided it was a product we could stand by 100 percent because we believed in the people and the food.”

Sam is already planning additional Tin Star restaurants in the Mid Cities area. While the specific locations have not yet been announced, he plans to open the restaurants in the next 18 to 24 months. The Parks Mall taco bar will employ approximately 20 individuals.

Tin Star brand owner Mike Rangel has a controlled growth plan for the franchise, limiting expansion to Texas and Oklahoma. He believes this will provide a good opportunity for franchisees and better control of ingredients to ensure freshness and quality in the food Tin Star provides patrons.

Tin Star is adding a new Uptown Dallas store in the Rosewood Center located at 2101 Cedar Springs Road by the end of 2010. It also plans to introduce an updated menu in September, featuring healthier choices and special promotions, such as a $6.99 lunch special that includes one taco, soup or salad and a drink.
