As many Americans struggle to find jobs in the current economy, some unemployed people are taking the opportunity to reassess their professional lives and find their true calling. If you’ve ever dreamed of getting paid to eat Cherry Garcia®, Chocolate Fudge Brownie or Phish Food® ice cream, your sweet fantasy may soon become a career reality. Ben & Jerry’s is currently seeking a full-time, qualified product developer to create the next generation of funky, chunky, most euphoric ice cream concoctions in the world at its headquarters in South Burlington, VT.

Known as “Flavor Gurus,” Ben & Jerry’s product developers are the masterminds behind the famous ice cream flavors, including favorites such as Chubby Hubby®, Chunky Monkey® and Half Baked®. From sourcing ingredients that support sustainable agriculture and the environment, to mixing up mind-blowing product innovations and participating in numerous taste-testing sessions – it’s all in a day’s work for Ben & Jerry’s Flavor Gurus. When not in the lab, the Flavor Gurus travel the world in search of unique ingredients and tasty flavors to create the innovative, socially conscious ice cream concepts for which the company is famous.

Don’t even think of applying just because you’ve polished off multiple pints of New York Super Fudge Chunk® in one sitting!

Applicants must meet the necessary qualifications beyond loving ice cream to back-up their taste buds. “We’re looking for a team member with some spunk, a food science degree, and the ability to create the world’s best ice cream flavors,” said Ben & Jerry’s Head Flavor Guru, Arnold Carbone.

As a member of the Bizarre & D team, Flavor Guru applicants must meet the following standard requirements to apply:

- A B.S. Degree in Dairy Science, Food Science, Food Chemistry, or related field

- 1 to 3 years of related experience in the frozen dessert or food manufacturing industry

- Proven experience in project management and new product creation

- Ability to consume dairy products, and a wide range of food products some of which may cause allergic reactions, if allergic to dairy and/or food products

“We know there’s a flavor developer out there, who can help us guide flavor ideas from the collective ice cream universe through our test kitchen right here in Vermont,” Carbone added.

In addition to three free pints of premium ice cream per day for all employees, Ben & Jerry’s offers a unique office setting filled with passionate people, pet-friendly policies and a strong corporate commitment to social mission and spreading euphoria.
