CHART 71st Hospitality Training Conference Agenda Stresses Organizational Performance And Trainer Development

The 71st semi-annual Council of Hotel and Restaurant Trainers (CHART) hospitality training conference will be held February 25-28, 2006 at the Loews Vanderbilt Hotel in Nashville, Tennessee.

'The conference focus plays off of the 'Music City' location to reflect all the elements that work in concert when composing effecting training programs,' said Mike Hampton, Ed.D, dean of the college of hospitality management at Lynn University and CHART president. 'From organizational performance development to individual trainer development, attendees will share the latest training practices, innovations and solutions.'

Interactive large group sessions include:
• 'Blueprint for Trainer Development,' a study of the newly-released Customized Competency Model for the Hospitality Industry by CHART and Batrus Hollweg; and
• 'Ask My Peers: LIVE!' a speed roundtable version of CHART's popular on-line discussion group of current industry topics.

The CHART environment of solution sharing comes to life through these smaller group member breakout sessions:

Hourly Staff Training
• 'The Three Training R's: Rock, Roll & Retention,' by Lanny Okoneck, FMP of FUN-Nominal Training and Consulting; and
• 'The Cost of Disorganization and Six Steps to Getting Organized,' by Richard A. Zurburg, CHRE, of Hospitality Consulting, Training, Coaching.

Management Training
• 'Challenges Solved with E-Learning,' by Jeff Tenut of Discoverlink; and
• 'Using the Clifton StrengthsFinder TM Assessment to Improve Team Performance,' by Lyn Jeffress of Jack In The Box.

Executive and Multi-Unit Training
• 'Learning to Measure Learning,' by Tama Murphy of The Culinary Institute of America; and
• 'Creating a Compelling Scorecard,' by Sue Kruse, FMP, of Perkins Restaurants and Bakery.

John Alston will kick off the conference with the ultimate 'no more excuses approach' to change management, personal accountability and responsibility with 'Stuff Happens...and Then You Fix It!' Eric Boles and Allen Jones of Diversified Learning Partners will present 'Better People/Bigger Business,' which focuses on organizational performance development through an integrated model. John DiJulius will close the conference with 'What's the Secret?' identifying hidden systems that deliver unforgettable customer service.

The conference also includes CHART's 6th semi-annual community service project, held in conjunction with (what's the info here?) Pre-conference workshops include 'Best Practices: Implementing a Performance/Competency Based Approach to Training' by Scott Matthews of Learning Evolution and Mike Woodard of PepsiCo, 'National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation (NRAEF) ServSafe AlcoholTM Course and Examination' by John Alexander of NRAEF, and 'American Hotel and Lodging Association Educational Institute (AHLAEI) Certified Hospitality Trainer (CHT) Review and Exam' by Rebecca Roth of Best Western International.
