Eat'n Park Restaurants' Web Site Ranks in Top Three Nationwide
Hospitality Technology Magazine Recognizes Site for Interactive Experience; Classic Holiday Star Commercial Now Available Online
As far as restaurant Web sites go, Eat'n Park's ranks among the best. According to Hospitality Technology Magazine, the family dining chain's Web site - www.eatnpark.com - was rated third best out of 20 restaurant Web sites reviewed throughout the country.
Now in its fourth year, the 2005 Hospitality Restaurant e-Commerce Study, in conjunction with the University of Delaware, has selected the top three Web sites from a mix of international, mid-sized and small regional restaurant chains. Also in the top three were Starbucks and Cousins Subs, respectively.
Restaurants were judged on all aspects of their Web sites-from overall look, technology use, navigational ease and contact, marketing effectiveness, e-commerce solutions and legal compliance. Eat'n Park's highest score was in the "site attractiveness" category, where a perfect score was received. This category covered all aspects of Web site aesthetics, such as general layout, use of space, font styles and design clarity. Labwerks @ Ten United, a Pittsburgh-based marketing communication company, developed the site.
"We're honored to receive this award," said Kevin O'Connell, senior vice president of Marketing, Eat'n Park. "We have focused on leveraging our Web site and email club to enhance our relationships with guests 24/7 and now this award recognizes us for providing a great interactive experience."
Eat'n Park's Web site includes vitals such as a restaurant location search, menu and nutritional information, shopping online, as well as categories named for Eat'n Park's famous mascot, Smiley-the Smiley Email Club, including exclusive members-only offers, and Smiley Central, which allows guests to track Smiley's whereabouts as he travels to community events throughout Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia. Online visitors can also order Smiley Cookies and Smiley gift cards to send to friends and family.
And just in time for Christmas, visitors can view and download Eat'n Park's classic Holiday Star commercial. "We first made our Holiday Star commercial available online a few years ago," said O'Connell. "We were amazed at the response from displaced Pittsburghers around the country who thanked us for making a part of their Pittsburgh holiday memories available online. Now, for numerous people, it's become a holiday tradition to download and play the commercial."
