Rubio's Fresh Mexican Grill Enters into Partnership Agreement with Arrowhead Pond
Plans to Open First in-Arena Restaurants Are Underway
Carlsbad-based Rubio's Fresh Mexican Grill (NASDAQ:RUBO) will open its first two in-arena restaurant locations in early 2006 at the Arrowhead Pond in Anaheim, Calif., home of the Mighty Ducks hockey team. The restaurants are part of a four-year partnership, which also affords Rubio's benefit of a custom-branded Rubio's Zamboni, radio advertising and other marketing promotions.
The Rubio's locations inside the Arrowhead Pond will be located adjacent to sections 217 and 408 on the arena's main concourse and terrace levels. Construction of these locations will start soon, and they are scheduled for completion in March 2006.
The restaurant's menu will include Rubio's favorites, including the Original Fish Taco and other items. Arrowhead Pond suite holders will have the option of having Rubio's fare delivered to their luxury boxes for all events in the building.
"We're pleased to be a partner of the Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim," said Larry Rusinko, vice president of marketing at Rubio's. "Our locations in the arena will give us a unique opportunity to offer Mighty Ducks fans, and other guests of the Pond, a convenient opportunity to enjoy our world-famous Original Fish Tacos, made-from-scratch salsas and other signature menu items."
Rubio's operates 61 restaurants in Orange County and Los Angeles County and 153 restaurants system-wide in California, Oregon, Arizona, Nevada, Utah and Colorado. The arena is Rubio's fifth non-traditional restaurant location. Others include Petco Park, Barona Valley Ranch Resort & Casino, Lindbergh Field Airport and a seasonal location at the Del Mar Racetrack, all in San Diego.
Rubio's joins Arrowhead, Toyota, the Orange County Register and Automobile Club of Southern California as a major corporate partner of the Ducks and Arrowhead Pond.
