Travel Prices Jumped 6.9 Percent In October Over A Year Ago - TIA Travel Price Index
The October Travel Price Index, TPI, increased 0.8 percent from September and jumped 6.9 percent over October 2004.
Gasoline prices declined 5.0 percent compared to September; however, it (Gasoline) was 37.0 percent higher against October 2004. Airfares rose 1.5 percent over the previous month and increased 9.1 percent from twelve months earlier. Lodging price was up 4.3 percent from September and rose 1.0 percent over a year ago. General inflation as reflected in the Consumer Price Index (CPI-U) increased 0.2 percent from September and was up 4.3 percent compared to October 2004.

The TPI is based on U.S. Department of Labor price data collected for the monthly Consumer Price Index (CPI). The TPI is released monthly and is directly comparable to the CPI.
