A 20-ounce burger, 24 toppings, eight different cheeses and 82 flavors of milk shakes top the menu at Cheeburger Cheeburger, which will make its Detroit-area debut this month.

The Florida-based chain's name may rekindle thoughts of the "Saturday Night Live" skit, but Cheeburger Cheeburger does not owe its moniker to the comedy show, said Bob Wright, marketing director.

"People think it does and we let them think that if they want to," he said. "It was a marketing idea." The chain operates 52 stores and has begun an aggressive national expansion campaign that will add 28 new units this year and more than that next year, he said.

"People have knowledge about us before we come into a market," Wright said. "And our franchisees are our customers. Our customers become fans and then franchisees."

That's what happened to Laura Switalski and her husband, Brian, the franchisees for Oakland and Wayne counties.
