Starbucks Announces Strong July Revenues

• Net Revenues Increase 21 Percent

• Comparable Store Sales Increase Seven Percent

Starbucks Corporation (Nasdaq:SBUX) reported consolidated net revenues of $495 million for the four-week period ended July 31, 2005, an increase of 21 percent from consolidated net revenues of $410 million for the same four-week period in fiscal 2004. On a comparable store sales basis (stores open for at least 13 months), sales at Company-operated stores increased seven percent for the four weeks ended July 31, 2005, as compared to the same four-week period in fiscal 2004.

"On the heels of Starbucks terrific third quarter performance, we have demonstrated continued momentum with our strong July revenues," said Jim Donald, president and chief executive officer. "As we have consistently seen, Starbucks core handcrafted beverages again drove our comparable store sales growth. The enthusiastic response to our new Tazo(R) Green Tea beverages was also a key contributor."

For the 43 weeks ended July 31, 2005, consolidated net revenues were $5.2 billion, an increase of 22 percent from consolidated net revenues of $4.3 billion for the same 43-week period in fiscal 2004. Comparable store sales increased eight percent for the 43 weeks ended July 31, 2005, as compared to the same 43-week period in fiscal 2004.
