Hardee's Opens First Franchise Restaurant in Jordan
U.S.-Based Chain Pursues International Expansion Strategy
CKE Restaurants, Inc. (NYSE: CKR) announced today that its subsidiary and popular U.S. hamburger chain, Hardee's, has opened its first restaurant in Amman, Jordan.
The spacious new facility features a striking contemporary design, and offers drive-thru service and a children's play area. Ned Lyerly, vice president, international, for CKE Restaurants, Inc., said that the expansion into Jordan represents another step in the company's long-standing, successful relationship with the Americana Group in the Middle East. "This is our 130th restaurant in the region," he said. "This opening was one of the strongest we've seen in some time. It's a further testament to the popularity of the Hardee's brand in the Middle East."
CKE Restaurants' international presence has been steadily increasing, with nearly 200 Hardee's and Carl's Jr.® restaurants operating in 13 countries, including Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman, Lebanon, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Egypt.
The Americana Group expects to open another Hardee's restaurant in Jordan during Summer 2005. They also announced plans to develop seven additional Hardee's in Jordan over the next three to five years.
