Casual U.S. restaurants' wait times inch up -survey
Average wait times for tables at casual dining chains are up 4 percent from a year ago, a monthly survey showed, indicating some chains could be poised to report slightly better sales than expected.
The average wait time at 200 casual dining restaurants on the evening of June 25 rose slightly to 14.2 minutes from 13.6 minutes last year, according to Smith Barney analyst Mark Kalinowski, who conducts the poll.
Longer wait times are considered good for the restaurant industry since they indicate stronger demand, and in turn, reflect a strengthening economy.
