Yellowtail Sunset Opens in L.A.

 

After months of anticipation, Yellowtail Sunset has opened its doors, providing the freshest seafood, playful drinks and a welcoming atmosphere that has yet to be seen on the iconic Sunset Strip.

From the mind and creativity of lauded Executive Chef Akira Back, Yellowtail Sunset will feature dynamic sushi rolls and Japanese staples, but will focus more on visionary items, including Lobster Carpaccio, Duck Prosciutto and Back's inventive Jeju Domi, consisting of line caught red snapper from the Island of Jeju, paired with chojang sauce. Also included will be Back's signature Big Eye Tuna Pizza, with micro shiso and truffle oil.

A vortex for Hollywood movers and shakers, celebrities and power players, Yellowtail Sunset's impeccable attention to detail creates an ambiance for every mood. The deep seating and simplistic table settings give off a feel of clean comfortability that transcends sushi restaurants. The custom lighting fixtures contrast beautifully with the dark stone flooring and espresso colored wood features. Much like the spirited food, the rooms are as simple as they are complex.

I've always been a big fan of California local ingredients so we have spent a lot of time figuring out which flavors will be best for the Yellowtail Sunset clientele," Back said. "This restaurant has been a dream of mine for a while now so we are excited to finally share this vision."

For the opening of the new West Hollywood location, Back and The Light Group joined forces with LORE Group (Rock & Reilly's/Pearls) to take over 8768 W Sunset Blvd – formerly the legendary Mirabelle restaurant – to bring the finest modern Japanese cuisine to the famed Sunset Strip.

This is the second Yellowtail in Chef Back's repertoire, having already opened a successful Las Vegas outpost in the opulent Bellagio Hotel. Since opening, Yellowtail Las Vegas became an iconic restaurant due to its superb atmosphere and exquisite menu.
