Captain D’s is building on the momentum and record-breaking success that the brand experienced in 2013.
With a renewed focus on franchise growth in 2014, Captain D’s has set its sights on prospective owners who are high profile franchisees interested in building successful restaurants. This vision stays true with new franchisee Michael Knobelock who signed a development agreement to own and open restaurants in Mississippi and other markets in the Southeast. This agreement builds on the momentum of last month’s development agreement between D’s and Zaheara Momin and Asif Jariwalla. Momim and Jariwalla, experienced Dairy Queen franchisees, plan to grow the brand in the Atlanta DMA.
“We could not be happier with how 2014 has started for Captain D’s,” Phil Greifeld, CEO and President of Captain D’s said. “We are excited to bring top-quality franchise operators to the brand that will continue to develop quality growth in targeted markets.”
Knobelock has signed on to own six units with Captain D’s. Knobelock has a prestigious record in the franchising industry, owning 47 Church’s Chickens (one of the largest in the system), 21 Little Caesars units, three Sears Appliance and Hardware stores and a couple of independent restaurant concepts.
“Michael Arrowsmith, Chief Development Officer at Captain D’s, reached out to me to see if I was interested in becoming a multi-unit franchisee with the brand,” said Knobelock. “I’m a speaker at the Multi-Unit Franchising Conference, and receive at least three inquiries per week from franchisors interested in having me join their brand. I jumped on the opportunity with Captain D’s as I believe that the best prospect for growth is not found in quick service, but rather in fast casual restaurants like Captain D’s."
Knobelock has high hopes for Captain D’s, and intends on becoming one of the largest franchisees in the Captain D’s system.
“Captain D’s menu has so much variety, including grilled salmon and great salads, and it’s not something that I originally associated with Captain D’s. There was an old Captain D’s 10 minutes from my house, so I went to taste the food and thought it was great. The new image and their new prototype looks more fast casual than fast food.” Others are taking notice, much like Knobelock.
“Captain D’s is attracting franchisees of all types,” Greifeld said. “We have a lot of interest from successful franchise owners who are looking for growth and who believe in our brand values.”
Headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee, Captain D’s owns, operates and franchises 520 restaurants in 25 states, plus military bases around the world. Captain D’s offers its customers great seafood at reasonable prices in a relaxed environment. The brand’s restaurants serve a widely varied seafood menu that includes freshly prepared entrees, and the company's signature hand-battered fish which is prepared to order to ensure freshness. The restaurants also offer premium-quality, grilled fish, as well as shrimp, chicken, shrimp & beef kabobs, hushpuppies, desserts and freshly brewed, southern-style sweet tea, a Captain D's favorite.
