Zaxby's Franchising, Inc. (ZFI) today announced the concept has opened its 600th location, which officially opened for business on January 27, 2014 in Washington, NC (20 miles east of Greenville, NC).
"Opening the 600th Zaxby's location is a milestone we are very proud of," said Zach McLeroy, CEO, Zaxby's. "Throughout the years, it has become evident that our growth and success has relied heavily on the ability to partner with extraordinary licensees, who without, Zaxby's would not be the brand it is today."
The Washington, NC location of Zaxby's is owned and operated by licensees Ryan, Randy and Beverly Tittle, who have four other Zaxby's franchised locations. This is the 5th Zaxby's in the Greenville-Washington, NC DMA.
With the 600th location now open, Zaxby's continues to explore additional growth opportunities outside of the concept's current geographical footprint with the brand focusing on expansion in markets including Oklahoma, Utah, Louisiana, Texas and Indiana.
"While we continue to grow in the southeast, we are actively looking for opportunities outside of the area and are currently engaging with several prospects that could expand the geographical reach of the Zaxby's brand," said McLeroy.
The announcement of Zaxby's 600th location comes on the heels of the brand reaching the $1 billion sales mark in 2013, after only 23 years in business.
An alternative to fast food, Zaxby's offers its guests prepared-at-order Chicken Fingerz, Traditional or Boneless Wings, sandwiches, Zalads and Zappetizers, along with a variety of nine sauces ranging from Wimpy and Tongue Torch to Nuclear and Insane. Childhood friends Zach McLeroy and Tony Townley hatched the Athens, Ga.-based chain in 1990 to provide a fun, relaxing atmosphere that would keep guests coming back for more. Zaxby's currently operates more than 600 locations across the U.S.
