National Restaurant Association President and CEO Dawn Sweeney has been named by Nation’s Restaurant News (NRN) as one of the top 50 most powerful people who are leading and shaping change in the restaurant industry.

NRN’s “Power List” includes heads of Fortune 500 companies and foodservice industry leaders, as well as First Lady Michelle Obama for her “Let’s Move” campaign.

Sweeney has been named as a “Top 50 Catalyst,” for her work promoting change in the restaurant industry.

NRN focused on Sweeney’s achievements to shed light on the impact of the Affordable Care Act on America’s nearly 1 million restaurants and 13.5 million employees.

Under Sweeney’s leadership, the NRA was instrumental in the Obama Administration’s decision to delay the health care law’s employer-mandate penalties and some reporting requirements until 2015. In addition, the Association has taken a leading role in advocacy efforts supporting a 40-hour per week full-time employment definition under the law, and continues to provide resources for members on how best to comply with the law.

With Sweeney’s guidance, NRA launched a comprehensive online Health Care Knowledge Center and a comprehensive Health Care Law Toolkit.
