    Concepts that have grown by at least 5% (if less than 50 units).

    Boulder, CO-based BIG RED F RESTAURANT GROUP (founded 1994) has increased by 1 unit for the Jax Fish House concept, from 2 to 3 (50% concept growth) and added a new concept called The Bitter Bar.  Other concepts include Centro (1), Lola (1), West End Tavern (1), and Zolo Grill (1).  Overall company increase was from 7 to 8 (14% growth), due to the closure of Happy Noodle House.  These are upscale restaurants, open for lunch and dinner, with a $15-$50+ per person check average.  The restaurants serve multiple cuisines and all offer full bar.  Average seating is for about 100.  Private party services are available.  All locations are in CO.

    Addison, TX-based BONE DADDY'S has increased by 1 unit, from 4 to 5 (25% growth).  The restaurants are family/casual, serving American cuisine.  Meal periods are lunch and dinner, with an $8-$20 per person check average.  Seating is for around 250.  Catering is available.  Locations are in TX.

    Seattle, WA-based CHOW FOODS (founded 1988) has increased by 1 unit, from 3 to 4 (33% growth), with the addition of a new concept called TNT Taqueria.  Other concepts are 5 Spot (1), Endolyne Joe's (1), and Hi-life (1).  The restaurants are family/casual, serving Mexican and American cuisines.  Per person check average is $6-$15+, open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.  The restaurants have full bar and seating for around 150.  Catering and online ordering are available.  All locations are in WA.

    Emerging and Re-emerging Concepts

    Concepts with 20 units or less who grew by at least 2 units.

    Campbell, CA-based PIZZA MY HEART (founded 1981) has increased by 3 units, from 19 to 22 (16% growth).  These family/casual pizzerias are open for lunch and dinner, with a $4-$10 per person price range.  Beer and wine are served and seating is for about 50.  Online ordering and delivery are available.  All locations are in CA.

    Chicago, IL-based JOHN BARLEYCORN has increased by 2 units, from 5 to 7 (40% company growth) with the addition of 2 new concepts called Social Twenty-Five and Mercer One-Thirteen.  Other concepts are John Barleycorn (3), and Moe's Cantina (2).  The restaurants are family/casual, open for lunch and dinner, and serving American cuisine.  The restaurants have full bar and seat about 200.  Catering and banquet services are available.  All locations are in IL.

    Repeat Growers

    Concepts previously written about in the past 18 months. 

    Boston, MA-based SOMERS PUBS (founded 1986) has increased by 1 unit for the Mr Dooley’s concept, from 2 to 3 (50% concept growth).  Other concepts are Durty Nelly's (1), Green Dragon (1), Hennessy's / Hooley House (1), and Paddy O's (1).  Overall company increase was from 6 to 7 (17% growth).  These family/casual Irish pub concepts are open for lunch and dinner, with an $8-$20 per person check average.  The restaurants seat about 80 and offer catering and banquet services.  All locations are in MA.  We wrote about this company on 5/24/11 (20% growth).
