Cru Oyster Bar will open on Nantucket Island on May 10, 2012, offering lunch, dinner and weekend brunch menus from 11am to 11pm.
At the helm are seasoned restaurant professionals Erin Zircher, Jane Stoddard and Carlos Hidalgo. This premier oyster bar will offer casually elegant cuisine in a visually stunning waterfront location overlooking Nantucket Harbor. Cru redefines the seascape of New England cuisine.
The restaurant’s unparalleled waterfront location offers a venue for guests to enjoy fresh, innovative seafood and an expansive oyster selection. Two sleek bars will feature an extensive wine and champagne list and innovative, hand-crafted cocktails for guests to enjoy along the waterfront setting.
Erin Zircher is the executive chef and a partner at Cru. Chef Zircher will present a fresh interpretation of coastal cuisine staying true to the Mediterranean flavor profile and classical French training of her culinary career. Her cuisine is simple and innovative, offering a fresh take on New England classics. Her signature dishes include local summer flounder meuniere; and a Provencal-inspired seafood stew with Nantucket striped bass, saffron and Pernod.
Managing partner Jane Stoddard will focus her efforts at Cru on day-to-day operations and personnel. The former general manager and director of operations for a trio of nationally recognized Nantucket restaurants: the Boarding House, The Pearl and Corazon del Mar, Jane brings a wealth of experience in restaurant operations to Cru.
Managing partner Carlos Hidalgo will utilize his extensive business background to focus on the financial aspects of running Cru, as well as creating the restaurant’s signature wine list and beverage/cocktail program. He is the former restaurant manager at the Boarding House and The Pearl on Nantucket and has significant experience as a restaurant manager/partner and as a chief operating officer.
Cru brings a new, vibrant feel to an established waterfront venue. The design concept is a refreshing take on seaside dining with a minimalist design that complements the waterfront and active harbor. The restaurant’s casually elegant atmosphere is a place where people can have fun while enjoying a simple approach to the freshest seafood available. Cru’s gorgeous water views, delicious food and lively bar scene is the perfect destination for lunch or dinner. The cuisine offers elements of the bistro tradition of lavish, tiered cold seafood platters, which provides something utterly unique to the Nantucket food scene.
