Continuing its rapid international growth, Johnny Rockets recently opened its first Colima, Mexico restaurant, Dec. 2, at Zentralia Colima, the city's primary shopping destination. This marks Franchise Owner Jose Manuel Villanueva's third Johnny Rockets restaurant. His other two successful Guadalajara locations opened in 2010.

The new, 1,650-square-foot full-service Johnny Rockets joins a number of other American franchises in the mall. The city of Colima has experienced an influx of American franchises since it began rebuilding from the 2003 Colima earthquake, which caused extensive damage throughout the state and surrounding areas. This expansion has created new economic opportunities and modern scenery to complement the city's rich historic colonial architecture.

"After opening Johnny Rockets in the Ciudadela shopping center in Guadalajara, we saw first-hand how much locals and visitors love classic American comfort food and the energy of our all-American experience," said Villanueva. "We felt Zentralia Colima was an ideal location for our third restaurant, as shoppers want a comfortable and upbeat environment to enjoy a simple, satisfying meal after a busy day of shopping."

"Johnny Rockets has proven to be a very successful business venture for our international partners," added Steve Devine, Johnny Rockets senior vice president of international development. "Because we have such a simple franchise model, it's a smooth business from an operations standpoint. Consumers abroad also readily embrace the brand, which is proven by how well our international restaurants do in sales."

The new Colima location features Johnny Rockets' menu of signature favorites including Hamburgers, American Fries and Shakes. The restaurant is Mexico's fourteenth Johnny Rockets, the majority of which are concentrated in central Mexico cities including Mexico City, Culiacan and Tampico.
