Houston, TX-based SALTGRASS STEAKHOUSE (founded 1991) has increased by 2 units, from 44 to 46 (5% growth).  This is a family/casual concept, open for lunch and dinner, with a $10-$30 per person check average.  The restaurants have full bar and seat about 350.  Private party services are available.  Trading areas are CO, LA, NV, OK, and TX.  Saltgrass Steakhouse is a subsidiary of Landry Restaurant Group.

Troy, MI-based OLGA'S KITCHEN (founded 1970) has increased by 2 units, from 33 to 35 (6% growth).  These fast casual sandwich restaurants are open for lunch and dinner, with a $3-$8 per person check average.  Units have seating for about 60.  Online ordering and private party services are available.  Trading areas are IL, MI, and OH.

Eugene, OR-based ABBY'S LEGENDARY PIZZA (founded 1964) has increased by 2 units, from 33 to 35 (6% growth).  This is a family/casual concept, open for lunch and dinner, with a $4-$10 per person check average.  Beer and wine are served and seating is for about 100.  Catering, delivery, and online ordering services are available.  Trading areas are OR and WA.

PICK UP STIX of Bloomington, MN (founded 1989) has increased by 4 units, from 70 to 74 (6% growth).  These are fast casual Chinese restaurants with seating for around 70.  Meal periods are lunch and dinner.  Per person check average is around $4-$10.  Catering, online ordering and franchising are offered.  All locations are in CA.

NAKED PIZZA based in New Orleans, LA (founded 2009) has increased by 11 units, from 6 to 17 (183% growth) and expanded into AZ, CO, MA and OH.  These are quick serve pizza restaurants with seating for around 20.  Meal periods are lunch and dinner.  Per person check average is around $3-$8.  Franchising is available.  Locations are in AZ, CA, CO, FL, KY, LA, MA, OH and Dubai.

San Francisco, CA-based SPECIALTY'S CAFE & BAKERY(founded 1988) has increased by 2 units, from 32 to 34 (6% growth).  These fast/casual bakery/cafes are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with a $3-$8 per person price range.  Units seat about 70.  Catering, delivery, and online ordering are available.  Locations are in CA, IL, and WA.  We last featured this concept on 4/20/10 (8% growth) and on 11/9/10 (14% growth).  

Salt Lake City, UT-based CAFE RIO (founded 1997) has increased by 4 units, from 37 to 41 (11% growth) and entered into MD.  This is a fast casual Mexican concept, open for lunch and dinner, with a $4-$10 per person check average.  Catering and online ordering are available and seating is for about 100.  Trading areas are AZ, CA, CO, ID, MD, NV, and UT.  We wrote about this concept 3 times in the past 18 months (5/18/10-15% growth, 9/28/10-6% growth, and 1/25/11-12% growth).

Burnaby, BC-based FRESHSLICE PIZZA (founded 1999) has increased by 5 units, from 46 to 51 (11% growth) and entered into ON.  These are take-out/delivery pizzerias, open for breakfast, lunch and dinner hours.  Units have limited seating and offer online ordering service.  Trading areas are BC and ON.  We last featured this concept on 2/2/10 (20% growth) and on 6/13/10 (13% growth).

GOLDEN SPOON FROZEN YOGURT based in Rancho Santa Margarita, CA (founded 1983) has increased by 3 units, from 123 to 126 (2% growth).  These are quick serve yogurt shops with limited seating.  Locations are open during lunch and dinner hours.  Per person check average is around $2-$6.  Locations are in AZ, CA, CO, NV and UT.  We reported on this concept on 11/30/10 when they had 12% growth.

HAPPY'S PIZZA of Farmington Hills, MI (founded 1994) has increased by 5 units, from 64 to 69 (8% growth).  These are mostly take-out restaurants with limited seating.  Meal periods are lunch and dinner.  Per person check average is around $3-$8.  Catering and delivery are offered.  Locations are in IL, MI, OH and NV.  We wrote about this concept on 5/4/10 (14% growth) and on 1/4/11 (7% growth).

JET'S PIZZA based in Sterling Heights, MI (founded 1978) has increased by 16 units, from 212 to 228 (8% growth) and expanded into WI.  These are take-out and delivery pizza shops.  Meal periods are lunch and dinner.  Per person check average is around $2-$6.  Locations are more than 80% franchised and are in AL, GA, FL, IN, IL, KY, MI, MN, OH, NC, TN, TX and WI.  We last reported on this concept on 8/31/10 (2% growth).

FREEBIRDS WORLD BURRITO of Emeryville, CA (founded 1987) has increased by 8 units, from 42 to 50 (19% growth).  These are fast casual Mexican restaurants with seating for around 100.  Meal periods are lunch and dinner.  Beer and wine are served.  Per person check average is around $3-$8.  Catering is available.  Locations are in CA, OK and TX.  We wrote about this concept on 8/31/10 (20% growth) and on 1/4/11 (17% growth).
