New Program Teaches Restaurant Owners and Managers to Increase Revenues and Decrease Costs With Enterprise Management Systems
UC Berkeley Extension announces the Professional Program in Restaurant Technology Administration, a series of courses designed to help restaurant managers and owners gain a competitive advantage through modern technology.
Restaurants that use integrated enterprise management systems are more competitive than those using separate traditional or paper approaches. This program teaches students the fundamentals of data-driven systems and the means to achieve superior client service while substantially reducing operating and overhead costs.
“The knowledge and expertise that students gain is difficult to get elsewhere because there are few programs or even textbooks specifically for the restaurant industry that cover specialty enterprise management systems”
The restaurant industry has a unique combination of demanding, time-sensitive requirements, including preferred customer programs, holiday promotions, online ordering and catering systems, delivery schedules, timekeeping, payment tracking, and more. UC Berkeley Extension’s Professional Program in Restaurant Technology Administration covers technology from a business needs point-of-view, offering students the tools to manage these requirements and seize future market opportunities.
“These courses help restaurant, hotel, food and beverage, and other hospitality managers and owners quickly come up to speed on the latest technology,” says UC Berkeley Extension Instructor Randy Chin. “We demystify the technology and show in a step-by-step manner how managers, owners, and staff can gain a competitive advantage from the technology that is available today.”
“The knowledge and expertise that students gain is difficult to get elsewhere because there are few programs or even textbooks specifically for the restaurant industry that cover specialty enterprise management systems,” says James Connor, director of engineering and technology at UC Berkeley Extension.
Students can complete the 90-hour program in less than a year. Two courses are open for immediate fall 2010 enrollment: Maximizing a Restaurant’s Point of Sale System and Benefits of Restaurant Online Ordering Systems. Details are available at extension.berkeley.edu/spos/restaurant.html.
In addition to public classes, select courses from the Professional Program in Restaurant Technology Administration are available for private on-site training.
