The GMCVB’s Miami Spice Restaurant Program – a summer celebration when Greater Miami’s top restaurants offer deliciously discounted three-course lunch and dinner menus - returns for its ninth year, August 1 – September 30, 2010 with a record-breaking 119 participating restaurants. For the first time, the Miami Spice Restaurant Program will launch with the 1st Annual Miami Spice Kickoff Event slated for the Miami Beach Convention Center, Hall D on Saturday, July 31, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. The event will showcase a sampling of delicious culinary specialties from Miami Spice participating restaurants. Miami Spice is one of the destination’s most anticipated culinary events since it was launched eight years ago, in 2002. This year, a record-breaking 119 of Greater Miami’s finest restaurants, including 31 restaurants participating for the first time, will offer $22 lunches and $35 dinners (excluding taxes and gratuities) from August 1 - September 30. Organized by the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB), each of the restaurants participating in Miami Spice will include an appetizer, entrée and dessert as part of the fixed price, which represents an average discount of 30-50% off the regular value.
New participants to the Spice program are: Anacapri on Ponce; Baire’s Grill; Charlotte Bistro; Chophouse Miami; D. Rodriguez Cuba; El Gran Inca Brickell; Foga de Chao Churrascaria; Gibraltar at Grove Isle Hotel; Ideas Restaurant; JB Kitchen and Bar; Kaspia; Mayfair Grill; Mercadito Midtown; Mesazul; Miami Chart House; Morton’s The Steakhouse, Miami Beach; Mr. Chow @ The W Hotel South Beach; Novecento, Key Biscayne; One Kitchen at One Bal Harbour Resort; Pelican Café; Philippe Chow @ Gansevoort Hotel; Randazzo’s Little Italy; Rincon Argentino; Rusty Pelican; Ruth’s Chris Steak House, Coral Gables; Solea @ The W Hotel South Beach; STK at The Gansevoort Hotel; Sugarcane; Texas de Brazil, Miami Beach and Dolphin Mall locations; Tuna’s Raw Bar & Grille; Zuma @ The Epic Hotel.
“We are thrilled at the level of Miami Spice participants this year,” says Steven Haas, Chairman of the Board of Directors for the GMCVB. “With more than 119 participating restaurants, there is a delicious diversity of dining choices to enjoy. While the fixed price menus are a smart luxury option, in today’s economic scenario they are more popular than ever,” adds Haas.
“We are grateful to our restaurant partners for their enthusiastic participation and to our presenting sponsor American Express and official sponsors Moët Hennessy USA and Stella Artois for their invaluable support in making this program possible,” says William D. Talbert III, CDME, president and CEO of the GMCVB. “More than 150,000 Miami Spice meals were served last year and that number is expected to climb even higher in 2010” adds Talbert.
There is an array of other special Miami summer promotions that overlap during Miami Spice Restaurant Month. The GMCVB’s Miami 4-4-3 promotion, for example, is offering a wide range of deals at dozens of hotels, restaurants and other area attractions that allow visitors to buy three and get one free through Labor Day.
