HMSHost debuts appetizing Asian fare as summer travel season begins
Travelers are enjoying a new menu of Asian cuisine at Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT). Brought to the airport by HMSHost Corporation, a world leader in travel dining and shopping, Hissho Sushi’s array of authentic, healthy and delicious Japanese sushi is prepared fresh daily and served at the newly renovated First in Flight Bar, located in the Main Terminal’s atrium.
“The exceptional quality of a brand like Hissho Sushi adds variety to our food and beverage program and is another example of how we are listening to the desires of our passengers. HMSHost is an essential partner in our concession program. We would not have been able to do this without them,” said Jerry Orr, Aviation Director.
“Working closely with HMSHost and the Charlotte Airport, we developed an innovative concept that stresses convenience for busy travelers on-the-go”
Hissho Sushi and HMSHost’s chefs created a selection of sushi specials just for the airport’s travelers that will impart a true sense of place—from names such as the CLT Roll (spicy salmon, cucumber and jalapeno, topped with sliced white tuna wasabi aioli and spicy mayo) and the Queen Charlotte Roll (tempura shrimp, green leaf lettuce, avocado, asparagus and capelin roe, served with a masago sauce) to the Outer Banks Roll, Orville & Wilbur’s (Wright Brothers) Roll and Sky Captain. Dishes familiar to sushi lovers include the Nigiri, Sashimi and Maki Rolls.
Adding a sushi option for travelers is part of HMSHost’s goal to offer a variety of contemporary dining choices to airport travelers. In partnership with Hissho Sushi, a nationally recognized purveyor of upscale sushi bars, HMSHost is able to offer the high quality, best tasting sushi to CLT’s national and international travelers who want a choice of interesting and healthy flavors.
“Working closely with HMSHost and the Charlotte Airport, we developed an innovative concept that stresses convenience for busy travelers on-the-go,” comments Hissho Sushi Director, Aaron Petrosky. “The custom bar contains a built in grab-and-go refrigerated sushi case providing a wide variety of sushi and maximum convenience for travelers to dine-in or enjoy fresh sushi on the plane.”
“We are always looking for ways to make the traveler’s day better with delicious and healthy menu options. Judging by the enthusiastic reception, Hissho Sushi is fast becoming a favorite of Charlotte Douglas travelers,” said Pat Banducci, senior vice president of business development for HMSHost.
First in Flight Bar featuring Hissho Sushi is located post-security in the main terminal atrium and is open daily for lunch and dinner.
