Knott’s Celebrates Pink’s Grand Opening
Activities Include Weiner Dog Races, Hot Dogs For Haiti Fundraiser, and a Hot Dog Eating Competition
Knott’s Berry Farm will celebrate the grand opening of the world’s famous Pink’s Hot Dogs at Knott’s Berry Farm’s Marketplace on Sunday, February 28. For over 70 years the family-owned Pink’s has had crowds lined up around the corner just waiting for a taste of one of their delicious chili dogs, and now this delicacy has finally come to Orange County!
Grand opening festivities include a ribbon cutting with members of the Pink’s family, Weiner dog races, “haute dog” dress up contest, hot dog eating competition and live music. Additionally, the day will include “Hot Dogs For Haiti” - all sales from chili dogs sold from 11:00 am to 1 pm will be given to the Red Cross to assist relief efforts in Haiti.
Started by Paul Pink in 1939, the original Pink’s was a large-wheeled pushcart on the corner of La Brea and Melrose that served an over-sized hot dog in a large warm bun, with mustard, onions and thick chili for only 10 cents each. Since that time movie stars, well-known dignitaries, struggling musicians, businessmen, housewives, and school children have savored Pink’s famous chili dogs.
Pink’s at Knott’s Berry Farm Marketplace is located just outside of the theme park, does not require theme park admission and offers three hours of FREE parking. Operating hours for Pink’s are Sunday-Thursday 11 am to 11 pm and Friday and Saturday from 11 am – midnight.
