The Lightstone Group, David Lichtenstein, Signs Sonic to Long-Term Lease

  • Sonic Corp The Lightstone Group announced today that Sonic Drive-In has signed a 40,000-square-foot, long-term lease at its Martintown Plaza shopping center in North Augusta, S.C.

    The transaction is a renewal on a five-year lease Sonic already had to operate in the shopping center. The operator of the Martintown Sonic operates more than 20 restaurants in the Aiken County, S.C., area.

    Sonic Drive-In started as a local hamburger stand in 1953 and has since grown into the largest drive-in chain in the restaurant business, and has the highest customer frequency rate in the quick-service restaurant industry.

    'Martintown Plaza has proven to be a very successful location for Sonic,' said David Lichtenstein, CEO and founder of The Lightstone Group. 'The complex is located close to major roads in Aiken County and is convenient to many of the big shopping plazas in the area, allowing traffic to flow naturally into the restaurant.'

    Martintown Plaza is a 144,000-square-foot retail strip located at 1101 Knox Road in North Augusta, S.C. Tenants include Office Depot, Belk, Jackson Hewitt, Dollar General, CitiFinancial, Ruby Tuesday and Taco Bell. The shopping center is also near Wal-Mart and Kmart Centers.
