In collaboration with commercial real estate investors and developers, Tribeca Associates, Thompson Hotels opened Smyth, its fifth hotel in Manhattan. Custom-tailored to its TriBeCa location, Smyth draws its inspiration from the vibrant neighborhood; offering an intimate 14 story hideaway of 100 guestrooms on West Broadway and Chambers Street. The building marks Thompson Group's second hotel to open in 2009, joining Thompson Lower East Side.

Thompson is pleased to announce that in the spring of 2010, Smyth will be complete with the addition of the resurrection of Frederick Lesort's Jour et Nuit Restaurant & Lounge. Pomeranc brought in Restaurateur Lesort, a native Parisian, who helped define New York City's jet-set dining and nightlife scene for more than 17 years, being an arbiter of culinary-chic, known for launching innovative restaurant-lounges infused with his sophistication, style and comfort.

"Jour et Nuit represents a perfect balance in cuisine and atmosphere which will effortlessly transport our guests from breakfast, to lunch, to evening cocktails," says Lesort. "The menu offers a range of rustic, delectable plates inspired by the provincial dishes of the South of France, all which can be enjoyed in a warm and engaging, environment."

The bi-level restaurant and Lobby Bar; along with the 2,500 square foot underground Cellar Cocktail Lounge, will offer guests and locals a luxurious hideaway to imbibe on unique cocktails. Lesort also conceptualized Smyth's 24-hour room service menu, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner 7 days a week, with an espresso-wine bar offering artisanal sandwiches and pastries during the day and cured meats at night.

"Translated from French meaning 'day and night', Jour et Nuit will offer hotel guests and locals just that; a sophisticated, yet comfortable atmosphere to frequent any time of day," says Jason Pomeranc, co-owner of the Thompson Hotels. "We saw Smyth as the ideal opportunity to bring this downtown staple back to life in a developing, vibrant neighborhood, invoking a feeling of refuge, yet traditional sensibility, refinement and romantic elegance."

The interior design is cozy and intimate, an amalgamation of the diverse British, French and American cultures along with various art mediums. Design duo Yabu Pushelberg, created the expansive lobby, home of the Jour et Nuit lounge, where paintings by up-and-coming self taught Argentinean artist, Santiago Rubino, evoke ancient karmic beliefs in conjunction with modern street art. The bi-level, 100 seat dinning Jour et Nuit restaurant as well as the Cellar Lounge is designed by the AvroKO group, re-introducing the French Riviera to New Yorkers by focusing on tones and colors that are rich, voluptuous and sexy, representing the vibrant Riviera temperament. The modern design of the restaurant, presented simply in an informal and relaxed atmosphere, offers comfort and relaxation while appealing to both locals and visitors for many years to come.
